LION OF JUDAH



"You are a lion's cub, O Judah, you return from the prey, my son. Like a lion he crouches and lies down, like a lioness-who dares to rouse him?" Genesis 49:9

You are a lion's cub. A symbol of sovereignty, strength and courage. Judah (or Israel) is often pictured as a lion in later times. Judah's greatest descendant, Jesus Christ is himself called "the lion of the tribe of Judah."

Among the Hebrews, and throughout the Old Testament, the lion was the achievement of the princely tribe of Judah, while in the closing book of the canon it received a deeper significance as the emblem of him whon the book and loose the seven seals thereof." Revelation 5:5.
